Libertie Brittanys

English Setters

Why English Setters? They just sort of happened to me.  A good friend of mine, Jane Renner, who lives just a few minutes away happens to own them. At first I said she had "the wrong breed", but at least the right group. We partnered up for dog shows and formed a great working relationship and close friendship. I started showing her dogs when circumstances required it. I learned how to groom English Setters; and they began to grow on me. I helped Jane whelp and raise two litters and as a token of appreciation she allowed me to co-own a puppy with her. Soon I found myself immersing myself in the breed, trying to learn as much as I could in a short time. And so it goes. I now co-own a few Setters and my first co-bred litter is here!

Currently residing at Ravenwood-Libertie we have two of our River x Fire puppies. These are our martini girls...Ravenwood-Libertie Martini Time (Rain) and Ravenwood-Libertie Martini Magic (Maddie). Both will be shown in puppy and bred-by-exhibitor class by Emily. Rain is owned by Jane and Emily and Maddie is owned by Katie Booth and Jane and Emily. Maddie already earned two show points with either Katie or her mom Miranda on the end of the lead, but for now she is living in Kentucky.
Here is our very pretty girl Maddie:

Maddie is now 19 months old and getting ready for the show ring. Maddie is a substantial girl who look so much like her father, we get them mixed up all the time! :)

The New Kid!

Rain is an absolute doll. She is a very sweet puppy and well behaved. She is a very pretty and elegant tricolor. Rain is getting ready to begin showing in earnest. She is 19 months old (boy are Setters slow to mature! :) ) and looking great! We'll have new pictures of her soon!  Look for her in a show ring near you, in the bred-by exhibitor class of cousre, early next year!

Rain is now six months old and getting ready for her first shows! I am excited about showing her in puppy and bred-by. This is the first English Setter that I am really starting from scratch!

After much deliberation we have decided to keep the tricolor puppy we called "Tiny", who will now be known as RAIN! She was the smallest of the puppies but we feel she will still be a nice sized Setter. Rain has a pleasant head with a lovely expression. She has an elegant neck which fits smoothly into nicely laid back shoulders. She has the more compact body we wanted and has good rear angulation. She also has the better bone we were hoping for. She has a showy temperament to go with her flashy looks and is a sweet girl. We are very excited about Rain's future!

Her name: Rain is a high quality vodka that is excellent for making Martinis)

Ravenwood Like Fine Wine

Shiraz is co-owned by me, Jane Renner, Deb Yeomans and Tory Harvey (both of Canada). She is a beautiful River daughter out of Kadon's Remember Cameo. She is bred by Christie Rentz. Since it was not the best time for another puppy in the house for Jane, we opted to share this stud puppy with Deb who will finish her in Canada first. Eventually Shiraz will come back to the States to be enjoyed by Jane and me and shown by me. We look forward to that time. Shiraz has a wonderful head, nice angles and loads of attitude!  2/10/08 Shiraz has her first  Canadian show point going Best of Winners, handled by co-owner Debbie Yeomans. She's on her way!

Shiraz at almost six months..growing into a very FINE lady INDEED!  Pictured with co-owner Tory Harvey.

Pemberley Ravenwood Fire In The Hole

Fire is now co-owned by me with Jane Renner!  I met Fire as a puppy and always liked her.  I first showed her at the Lexington shows in '06 and enjoyed that; this year I got to show her at Lexington again and really had fun with her.  On top of her great body and movement she loves to show and that makes it all the more a pleasure to handle her.  I helped Jane with her last litter and wound up co-owning Breeze; so when we talked about breeding Fire I really got excited.  Jane wanted to be able to have a puppy of hers shown in the bred-by class and since her handling days are well behind her we decided that the logical choice was for me to co-breed a litter from Fire so I could show that puppy in bred-by for both of us!  And this is how I come to co-own yet another lovely English Setter!  I am very excited about our future breeding plans and look forward to picking up the last few singles on Fire before we breed her.  Fire has a wonderful temperament; she is quiet and loving in the house, but loves her birds and the great outdoors.  Fire has an outstanding topline, a substantial body and sound running gear that makes for smooth and clean movment with reach and drive.  She is heavily Guys N Dolls bred and is also a granddaughter of DC Set'r Ridge's Solid Gold MH CDX.  I look forward to the future with her. FLASH! 1/20 Fire is now being bred to River! We hope for puppies around March 23 or so. Will update on the puppy page and on Ravenwood site!
