Shelby came to me all the way from California. After finishing Maestro, and somewhat frustrated with trying to put that last major on Libby who was nearing five years old, I decided I wanted to get another bitch. A fan of Jonnie's, I heard from Barb that he had just been bred to a lovely Cimmaron bitch out in California. I immediately got on the waiting list for the litter and as luck would have it, despite only two puppies resulting, I had the honor of getting the only bitch! I have Barb and Polly to thank for helping me to get Shelby. I soon saw that Shelby was my dream come true. She arrived by plane on a very stormy August morning in Northern Kentucky. As soon as she saw my husband and me she started wailing to get out of that crate and she hasn't stopped since. Shelby is something else! She truly has joie de vivre...the essence of Brittany personality. Shelby is an outstanding bitch. I first saw a glimmer of this when she easily took a big match Group First at 15 weeks old. Shelby has superb, reaching, ground-covering gait and is clean from every angle. She is strong, vigorous and muscular and has a beautiful head and expression. She also has a great nose and lots of drive and desire in the field. Shelby is the first Brittany I finished entirely myself, and all from the puppy classes. She finished with four majors at nine months old in only ten shows. Shelby is now being specialed by Emily and has multiple Best of Breeds to her credit, including wins over top ranked males. She is the dam of five champions, with still more on their way!
